JANUARY DATES

This two-day course will focus on audition technique for Film and Television with emphasis on the first read and the preliminary audition. Participants will be guided on how they can use the audition as an opportunity to best demonstrate their range and talent.

Individual Taped reads will be made available via a password protected link to individual participants after the workshop. (Usually within 2 weeks.)

Casting director Sara Kay (Lewis Kay Casting) will offer insight and guidance on the casting process on day 2 of the course.

Day I – February 28, 2015  (10am – 5pm)

The first day will cover preparation for an audition, the audition itself, and how to make a great first impression during an audition.  Babak Payami will cover key areas that the director and/or producer may be interested in during the first audition and how an actor can increase their chances of being considered for a role.

Participants will be guided through the various processes that could be used to interpret the audition “sides” and how to make “choices” for their presentation at an audition.

Day II –  March 1, 2015 (10am – 5pm)

Participants will undergo a simulated taped audition session, followed by an overview of the audition process.  Casting Director Sara Kay (Lewis Kay casting) will begin with an overview of the Casting Director’s perspective and his/her collaboration with the directors, producers as well as the actors or their agents during the casting process.   The taped auditions will be reviewed in class with feedback and tips, including a final Q&A with Sara Kay and Babak Payami
